“What’s it like?” he didn’t know how to answer at first. No one had ever asked him that before.

“It’s an honourable job,” he replied after awhile. “If you can do it properly, you can make peoples’ lives that much better. But not everyone can do that. You have to be willing to give up your time, maybe even your life, for the sake of your kingdom. You have to be tough, or no one’s gonna respect you, and you have to be able to cope with being under pressure.”

“So you’re like a hero or something, right?” She asked with a smile. “I’ve read books with heroes that have to protect their kingdom!” Rapunzel nodded proudly, she did recall flipping detailed pages where there were dragons, witches, and all sorts of challenges a hero had to face. 

“Is your kingdom the one that’s nearby…?” The blonde asked, suddenly wondering if the Captain had seen the floating lanterns in action.

The Captain shook his head. “Talking doesn’t work with thieves. Trust me; I’m speaking from experience. Violence is the only language they understand.”

He decided not to reveal that the crown was missing. The Royal Family hadn’t exactly wanted it advertised.

She had decided that she disagreed with what the Captain was saying, but didn’t mention it. She liked how he was so driven, though! Rapunzel turned slightly to gesture the ropes that tied her wrists together. “…Mind if you take these off?” She asked, showing a hopeful grin. “They aren’t very comfortable.” 

“What’s it like being a Captain?” Through her books, the green-hued girl learned about different jobs that sounded interesting, though she was sure that she could never pursue some of them.

The Captain frowned again. He couldn’t give too much away, even if this girl wasn’t Rider’s accomplice. He was surprised she didn’t know - how could she miss all the “wanted” posters?  - but then again, this girl apparently didn’t even know what Corona was… 

“Rider stole something from the Royal Family,” he told the girl. “Something very important to them, and it’s our job to get it back.” 

“He did?” Flynn didn’t seem like a bad guy or a ruffian at all! After all, he did agree to show her the lanterns—though, it might’ve been because he really wanted his satchel back. “What was it?” Rapunzel asked, curious to know what sorts of things the ‘royal family’ had owned, as well as what caught her friend’s attention. 

“Have you tried just talking to him? Maybe it’s those…” She glanced at their weapons, the name escaping her for a second. Swords, yes swords! “…swords that scared him off.” The blonde did remember that the Captain had almost stabbed Flynn earlier when they were running from the guards. Maybe a more peaceful approach would work!
